Welcome to my blog!
My name is Francois and I am a 3rd generation gourmand. I love baking and I am always looking for new ways to prepare sweets. From testing original techniques, to unusual ways to bake desserts or fun ideas to hack molds into making new shapes, I like to think of myself as a nerd baker or the mythbuster of butter.
I was born and raised in France and I moved to the US when I was 22. Hard to believe but growing up I could not bake. Believe me, I tried. And tried. And tried again. So I dove head first into a ton of other hobbies like sculpting and painting. Who knew all those would make me a better baker years later. And then one day it clicked and I started looking at baking for what it really was: artistic chemistry. I started with basics recipes like butter cookies and stuck to one rule: follow the recipe to a T. Finally! I could make cookies, sponge cakes and ice cream. It was good but I got bored pretty fast. So I had the taste down but all my baked goods looked like everyone else’s. There was one simple reason: we are all using the same recipes and the same baking tools. There had to be another way. So I started experimenting. One of my favorite places is Home Depot and I started using unconventional tools to shape and bake cookies. Needless to say, it worked and a passion was born.
Years later I started working as a buyer for Williams-Sonoma. That was a life-changing experience. I could talk food all day and had the chance to work with some of the most brilliant people in the industry. We all lived and breathed food, and got the chance to introduce customers to new flavors and new concepts. After a few years, I was asked what products I wanted to work on and I jumped on the chance to manage bakeware. It was a dream come true. For years, I got to create fun and innovative tools that would hopefully inspire bakers around the world. I got to think outside the box, find new ideas and share them with millions of customers.
Here are some of my babies:
The main thing I got out of this experience was seeing the joy in people’s faces when trying new shapes of cookies or cakes. The goal of this blog is to inspire everyday bakers with original ideas. After all, all it really takes is a little imagination and lots of butter.
I get to do what I love most: explore, try new things and share it with all of you. I was lucky enough to be featured on several sites. Here are some of them. Thank you for all the kind words!
Happy Baking !
