My friend James is as obsessed with robots as I am with monkeys. It’s kind of our thing. He’s robot. I’m monkey. We’re grown ass dudes and we’re cool with that. =) So the other day I got this idea for a tiny robot cookie and I am so pleased with how they turned out. Oh and they’re really easy to make so yay!
Let’s start with the dough. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the flat beater, cream butter and sugar on medium speed until light in color and fluffy in texture. Add the egg and vanilla extract. Mix until combined. Add all the flour and mix on low speed until the dough comes together. Roll out your dough between 2 pieces of plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. In the meantime, preheat your oven to 350°F.
To shape these cookies I am using 2 tiny rectangle cutters:
They’re part of this set I use all the time:
Ateco 4845 Geometric Shape Cutter Set
Start by cutting large rectangles for the head and tiny rectangles for the body:
To shape the arms, cut tiny rectangles and slice those into 4 pieces with a pairing knife:
Chop off each corner:
And stick to the body:
Bake your cookies for about 8 minutes.
To decorate, I am using sugar pearls and hearts, red and black royal icing and a food deco pen. First, using dabs or red royal icing, glue red sugar pearls to the bottom and sides of the robot. Then, using black royal icing, pipe tiny dots for eyes. Glue a red sugar heart with some icing. Finally, add a smile with a food coloring pen:
All done!!!
- 2 sticks of butter, room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups flour
- In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the flat beater, cream butter and sugar on medium speed until light in color and fluffy in texture. Add the egg and vanilla extract. Mix until combined. Add all the flour and mix on low speed until the dough comes together.
- Roll out your dough between 2 pieces of plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. In the meantime, preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Shape your cookies and bake for 8 minutes or until the edges start to turn a light golden color.
Francois these are so adorable. I love how you decorated them!
Cutest robots I’ve ever seen!
Thanks Janine!
So cute. I love that cutter set too. I use mine all the time.
This made me think of my six-year-old daughter’s book: “Monkey & Robot.” It’s an early reader book but more amusing than I thought it would be.

I enjoy reading your blog. Your baking is so beautiful and looks delicious. I like how easy the dough was to make and that it didn’t spread in the oven when I baked it. Thanks!
lol, I am so getting that book =)
These are just about the cutest cookies I’ve ever seen!
I had to cover my mouth from yelping and squealing at how CUTE these are!!!! =DDD
I’m in love!
Pretty awesome robots, Francois. Monkeys rank up there in my book too. 🙂
Francois, te felicito por tu página.
Un saludo desde las islas Canarias.
